Failed to authenticate Fences with Steam

I recently upgraded to windows 11 from windows 10. I did a full wipe of my computer when I did it. I was using fences 3 and loved it. I bought fences 4 and have been getting an error.

Failed to authenticate Fences with Steam. Please ensure that Steam is logged in with a working internet connection and try again. If you are still having a problem please contact support. Result code -203

 

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling, running sasSteam, and using the purge file that is providing in the support section of this website. Please let me know if there is anything else that I can do because I am unable to figure out the issue.

Sorry to hear you are having issues. Just to confirm, you bought Fences 4 through Steam or through Stardock direct?

Okay, I have installed my system with Fences 4 from Steam a few moments ago. Fences 4 activated and confirmed working. So, please try again, maybe there was a Steam/connection issue. Just check if Fences 4 appear on your Steams account and Steam is running while activating. Report back.

Yes Fences 4 is in my library and I opened it through steam so steam is running.

This is almost always a temporary issue (with the Steam client).

Has it since activated for you?

Try:

Creating a new Windows Admin account:

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/create-a-local-user-or-administrator-account-in-windows-20de74e0-ac7f-3502-a866-32915af2a34d

Under it, open Steam, then 'Play' Fences from within it

If it works there, it will be fixed on your main Windows account as well.
