Fences 5 will not activate, offline activation is incorrect

I tried to do the offline activation which recommends you uninstall Fences 5.  I did that and rebooted.  I then downloaded Fences 5 from the download page - note that I have a subscription so that is permitted.  I then entered my subscription key and it said it could not activate the software.  When I go through the routine, save a fences.req file and upload it, it says that I have already installed this on Computer01 (example) which is the computer I am trying to install on.  If I were already installed, why do I get popups all the time asking me to enter my activation key.  So, I think the whole process is a bit messed up.  I uninstalled.  Stardock/Fences says that I still have the software installed.  How do I get my money's worth from the subscription when it is so broken?
