create windows link?

Creates

It seems I'm no longer able to create a Windows LINK of a folder on my desktop.

Instead, Fences tries to create a "Folder Portal".

I'm sure a Folder Portal is wonderful, but that's not what I want. I want an old fashioned link that points back to the original folder.

How can I do this. I don't use Folder Portals, and I'm happy to give up this capability to get what I want.

thx,

.

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. But, I am not sure what you mean by "Windows Link" on your desktop. Please elaborate. How to create it and how to make it appear on your desktop. Also need to know you on Windows 10 or 11? Please also share your Windows full version number. Use Winver.exe to get the number.

Thanks

First of all, Windows 11 build 22621.2715

I should have been more specific. A folder shortcut. Drag a folder out of file explorer with the alt key pressed, and generate a link to the original folder, called in Windows lingo a "shortcut" . Not a symbolic link.

Hope that explains it better.

I tested it, and I believe you can still use the same "Alt" while drag folder into desktop area to create shortcut link. But you just need to temporarily disable Fences first. Enable it back once you done creating your folder link should get your system back to normal with Fences.

Thank you,

I will try - but I would consider that a very poor design - taking away a very long existing windows facility - the ability to make a shortcut - with no bypass.

I would suggest a different design.

But thanks for your help.
