Start10 issue and Start11 on Windows 10 ?

Hi all,

I have a desktop with Windows 11 / Start11 and a laptop which is still on Windows 10 (for various reasons) and still has Start10.  On my start screen, I have links to programs, folders and websites.  On the Start10/Windows 10 install, previously when I would pull up the Start10 start screen (set to Windows key) and click on a link to open a folder, it would open directly.  Now, it finds the folder, but the folder window does not open directly - instead stays in the taskbar and blinks orange.  I have to click on the folder in the taskbar to open it.  Opening programs or web pages are no problem.  The Start10 install is the most recent available, it tells me there are no updates available.

Anyone else experience this?

Start11 is working fine on my desktop in that regard.  I see that it is possible to install Start11 on Windows 10.  Do you think that might solve the problem?  I have one each product keys for Start10 and Start11 - each one is only installed on one machine.  Would going from Start10 to Start11 on the Windows 10 machine be a paid upgrade or can I use my existing Start11 product key on more than one machine?

Thanks in advance,

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. First, Start11 v1 or v2 will work great on Windows 10 OS. Second, on question will your Start11 key work on another system install. That depand on which Start11 you purchased. Did you purchase Single activation or 5 activation pack? If 5, it should work on another 4 system. But if one, than you will need to purchase another license for your second system. Do know there is discount offer to previous version owner.

Now on to your issue with Start10 on Windows 10. Try this, uninstall Start10, reboot immediately after its done. Download again, latest Start10 version from your account page. Install it, reboot again. Retest it and report back.

Thanks

Thank you for your response.  Unfortunately, it is impossible to uninstall Start10 completely/correctly - I tried twice.  It goes through the motions, after a restart it is no longer in Windows Programs nor showing as running in Task manager, but pressing the Windows key still shows me the Start10 screen.  I tried reinstalling the downloaded version but the symptoms are still the same as before.

Please try purge and reinstall steps as mention here : [Link]. Just make sure to redownload the latest version from your account page. Reboot after the purge. Reinstall and reboot again after the installation. Retest and report back here.

Thank you,

Does that mean I am going to lose all of my customizations of the start screen when I do this?  Any way to back those up?  I would not like to have to re-create them all from scratch.
