Start11 very slow / laggy

Hi i am having issues with both version Start11 v1 and v2.

When installed the task bar is very laggy, meaning that the mouse cursor takes about 1 second to hove over an item, for example in the tray area. When Start11 is uninstalled, task bar works with normal speed.

I am experiencing this on two different, nearly newly-bought and all up-to-date computers.

On one computer the right click menu of the windows button doesn't work any more when Start11 is not installed.

sfc /scannow and dism commands show no errors.

Edit: Win+X is working and opens the windows button right click menu. I also have windowblinds installed maybe that one is faulty, I also don't have a tray icon from windowblinds though the option is enabled in the windowblinds settings. this seems to have appeared with one of the latest windows 11 updates.

the start11 issue persists for as long as i have bought and installed it some months ago.

What other software do you have installed on those computers as it sounds like some sort of conflict going on causing excessive taskbar messages.

i have installed some more advanced system programs, but all basic needs, drivers etc, also for example "advanced systemcare" and "rainmeter" and is the last one is a UI customization i could try to uninstall that maybe.

by the way for the whole time when windows 11 was released, i'm having a slow explorer / desktop on both computers, maybe this is the reason why start11 adapts to this condition somehow.

This is really annoying and when i reinstalled Windows 11, it was all good with normal speed and no explorer lag at all. but at some point , when installing the mentioned system programs and drivers, the described starts to happen.

i think you are right that this could be some conflict as i am having this on both my computers.

Hi again,

I found out that the problem with the laggy tray icons only appears when "enhanced taskbar" is enabled in the Start11 Settings. The Start Menu and the taskbar is working without any lag in both modes. But the tray as well as the whole system / explorer is laggy when that option is enabled.

I also tried to enable the enhanced taskbar mode and change some settings there, without any success.

So I went through the steps of creating an Administrator Account and found out it was fully working.

In the end it was WindowBlinds what caused the tray icons to be lagging. With the "Default Theme" everything is at full speed, but when switching to another theme the tray icon mouseover lag starts. When switching back to default theme, its again at full speed. I experimented with some options in Windowblinds but without any success.

This occurs on both my computers.

May I know few information on your system.

  1. Windows full version numbers.
  2. Windowblinds full version numbers.
  3. Does the issue happen on any theme specially theme that come with Windowblinds like Corporate or Diamond?

i don't know exactly which are integrated and which are 3rd party, but its not working with both of them, only with the default theme.

Here my current windowblinds themes:

Great, thanks. Please try purge and reinstall steps for Windowblinds as mention here : [Link]. Just make sure to redownload the latest version from your account page. Reboot after the purge. Reinstall and reboot again after the installation. Retest and report back here.
