Desktop shortcuts will not stay inside the fence

On every reboot the shorcuts return to the desktop

I have eighteen various shortcuts that refuse to be constrained by Fences.  Each time I reboot (which I do every morning) these shortcuts are back on the desktop.  I have moved them at least three times, same result.  I should note this is a new workstation running Window 10.  I have been running Fences 3.xx for years on my previous workstation with no issues.  I even upgraded to Version 4.21 thinking that may fix it, but that did not solve the issue.  I have several fences on my desktop that are filled with shortcuts - those are behaving properly and staying where I place them.  It's only an issue with these same eighteen shortcuts.  Sorry if this has been covered in a previous thread - I am not new to Fences, but never had an issue in the past, so I am new to this forum.

Sorry to hear you are having issues. Need to know more on your issue.

  1. Your Windows 10 full version number. Use Winver.exe
  2. Those desktop shortcuts that having an issue. Those link to where? Application, documents and in local drive or network drive?
  3. Do you have OneDrive Desktop Sync turn on?

Well the same issue is recurring again.  Seemed to be resolved until I logged in remotely to this desktop.  Icons are now scattered over the desktop and not inside the Fences where I placed them.  Please reopen this discussion and help me find a solution.  I purchased this software to perform one function - contain icons inside of fences, and it is not working.

Yesterday I downloaded a trial version of Fences 5.  I have had no success with Fences 4 on my new workstation running Windows 10.

This morning, my shortcuts have broken out of the fences I left them in yesterday, and are scattered across my desktop.

I need assistance.  I need telephone support to attempt to get this matter resolved, or I will be forced to abandon Fences software.  Note that I have been a very satisfied Fences 3 user for many years.  The issues started with my new workstation.  I have neither the technical expertise nor the time needed to resolve this issue.

Please arrange for a telephone call  during which you can walk me through whatever steps you feel will resolve this issue.

Sorry to hear you are having new issues. And from what I know there is no support via telephone available. What I can do is to try to help you via forum post here. Need to know more information on your monitor setup. Need resolutions and Scale factors.

To confirm, the issue happen only after you remote desktop into the system, yes? What is the resolution on system where you remote desktop from?

BTW, if you do layout desktop restore, does those icons return to it original position?

Yes the setup of my monitors on my two workstations are identical...

Yesterday I  set up icons within fences in Fences 5.  This morning, I'm remoted in to that workstation, and the icons are exactly as I left them  I then sent a ctrl-alt-del command and restarted that desktop remotely.  When it came back up, the icons are still within the fences.  So I cannot replicate the issue in Fences 5. 

Possibly the issue is resolved.  

One more question regarding licensing.  I only recently purchased Fences 4, and never could get it to run correctly.  While we were working on this issue, Fences 5 was released.  Since I licensed and paid for, but never used Fences 4 - can you extend that license to Fences 5?
