Cant Download the WinBoot Skins....

I know the files are supposed to be downloading as a zip file but they arent....they are just showing the little logo of the program and nothing else.

Did You doubleclick the files after downloading ?

they are zip files. open them up with a program like winzip. unless the download went wrong

That is just it isnt downloading to my comp AS a zip file. and yes I also doubleclicked the files after downloading....that was when I got the message.

I understand that, but I have tried the normal methods to unzipping a file....but the options to unzip arent there. Zip files are supposed to be in a folder usually with a little zipper going down the middle of the file icon...well I am getting a peice of paper with a colorful icon on it along with a .tmp file. No zip folder...

Maybe try right clicking/open with/.....?

.... its a little early over there, but I'm sure an admin or someone more knowlegeable than me will be able to help you in due time. Hang in there, folks are pretty good round here

yes the icons are different, and so is the extension, but it is saved as a zip file

This is the message I get right after I download the skin, doubleclick the skin, or right click and open with:

There was an error importing the skin file. Possible causes are a corrupt skin file, or a read-only skin directory.

Then once the message is gone the Bootskin program comes up where it shows you the skins you have...and the new one is not there.

On my comp it is listed not as a zip file but as a BootSkin Document. I have no way of unzipping this file if it is in fact a zip file. But I have had no problems unzipping other files before either....

get a program called winzip. you can find it here www.download.com

On your comp Crazy, what do the skins look like?

OKay I am still getting the same message as before...and I downloaded a completely different skin than I have been

they have the bootskin symbol that you said before.

This time choose open with, choose a different program than bootskin, find winzip/winrar/whatever, choose that program. extract the files to a folder in the bootskin directory.

It must be your browser. I am at a loss for what to do. Hopefully someone more knowledgeable than me will wonder into the thread soon.

...Ok, I never used the bootskin prog. till now, but to see if I could help you I just d/l'd it now, along with some skins. From what you've said here, it appears that they are not saving in the correct format, coz at my end here, they are definitely in the correct format for the bootskin program, and install correctly.
... If you hover your mouse cursor over the file, you should have a little text come up, telling you what the file is. Does it say its a bootskin file?
