Start 11 occasionally gets stuck in a open - close loop

Only escape is to CTL, ALT, DLT and restart PC.

PC is windows 11, 22H2 (OS build 22621.1702) Start 11 Ver is 1.44.

Start 11 has been working flawlessly for quite a while until recently. Now, occasionally click on start button to open an app and Start11 gets stuck in an open-close loop. Nothing I do can turn it off until I need to CTL, ALT, DLT and restart PC. This happens on my Windows 11 laptop, windows 11, 22H2 as well starting around the same time. Video of event should be in link.

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. Try this, uninstall Start11, reboot immediately after uninstall finished. Download and install Start11 V1.45. Reboot again after installation finished. Retest and report back.

Thanks

Hi, I did as advised and installed V 1.45 on both PC's. Kept settings from previous version. Problem still exists. However I am sure I have narrowed down problem. I use windows 10 style start menu with small task bar icons. I also used custom start button toggled on on both PC's. I had Start7 on one and Echo on the other. If I use custom start button, problem exists, if I have custom start button toggled off, no problem and everything seems stable.

I have set according to your setting. But, I still cannot reproduce your issue on my system. Btw, taken from your video, what application is running on your desktop? (red arrow pointed to it). Is that Stardock Fences. If yes, as a test, try moving it away from the area Start menu opening. Does that help?

Thank you,

No, that was a recycle bin recovery program I installed to find a previous version of the posted video. I had deleted it by mistake. Meanwhile fault happened again so I made a new video and uninstalled that program. Also that program wasn't on the second PC with same fault. If I have stardock open when the fault occurs, I can sometimes force restart of explorer (button) and that stops the fault for now. I'll just use no custom start button from now on since it seems stable.

As I said above, it issue not appearing on my system when I turn on that same start button (Win7) and set the taskbar size to small. Restart explorer.exe just to be sure. And mouse click lots of time on the start button. But, the issue don't appear on my system. What I can suggest is to do a cleanboot and see if something else is conflicting with Start11 on your system. https://forums.stardock.com/505872/start11-support-faq#cleanboot
