Microsoft Store on Taskbar opening explorer rather than Microsoft Store. Icon keeps changing

Issue observed on dual monitors

If I install Start11 on my PC with dual monitors, the Microsoft Store Icon on the task bar will change and clicking on it I get Windows Explorer. Removing Start 11, everything works fine.

Here is the Windows Version:

The issue is that when Star11 is used, the Microsoft Store icon on the taskbar opens Windows explorer. Please click link to see video.

When Start11 is removed, Microsoft Store icon on taskbar functions properly.

Hello,

Try this, unpinned Microsoft Store from taskbar. Launch Microsoft Store via your Start panel. Pin Microsoft Store again and test it. Same result? If yes, need to know, you on which Start11 version?

I've done all that. Start 11 1.44.

Please try Start11 V1.45 Beta: https://forums.stardock.com/518875/. Remember to uninstall Start11 V1.44, reboot immediately after uninstall finished. Install V1.45 Beta, reboot again after installation finished. Retest and report back.

Do you have explorerpatcher or anything similar to mod your Startmenu/taskbar? Reference: https://forums.stardock.com/520356/get;3892031

Hi nirican,

So far we cannot reproduce this on several machines tested. https://cdn.stardock.us/support/uploads/2023-06-01_09-24-30tpscroggins.mp4

Do you by chance have any other "Windows modification" software of any kind installed?

I also suggest reviewing the Clean Boot process, it is a way to see if there is any software conflicts going on

Performed that as well. The computer in question already has two accounts and the Microsoft Store icon on Start 11 task bar only opens Windows Explorer. When Start 11 is removed, all task bar icons function properly. Is there a way to completely remove Start 11. Just uninstalling does not remove all the parts of Start 11. Do you have a tool to restore the system as though Start 11 was never installed?

Please try purge and reinstall steps as mention here : [Link]. Just make sure to redownload the latest version from your account page. Reboot after the purge. Reinstall and reboot again after the installation. Retest and report back here.

Figured out that there is a bug with Start11. When Start11 is installed and the Microsoft Store icon is added to the taskbar, the icon functions properly when clicked. The minute the "Let Start 11 enhance the taskbar is turned on, The Microsoft Store icon changes and opens Windows Explorer. Turning the enhance taskbar option off, returns the Microsoft Icon to function properly. I am using a dual monitor system with two accounts on the PC.

Hello,

In the video the "store" taskbar icon somehow change itself to "my pc" icon (0:29), after your turn on "Enhance" taskbar in Start11. That look strange. Would like to suggest you to try cleanboot: https://forums.stardock.com/505872/start11-support-faq#cleanboot

Thanks

nirican,

Are you using another taskbar/start menu customization product? (StartAllBack, Explorer Patcher, ext.?)
