Fence Won't Keep Last Icon In Last Position

I searched the forum and couldn't find an answer to this in Fences 3. This was a problem in Windows 10 & now 11. I have one fence with room for 6 icons. I have 5 in it. Every week one icon needs to be deleted and replaced with an updated one. This icon goes in the second row, second column. I manually move the icon that goes in the third row, first column onto the desktop to place the new icon. However, when I try to put the 5th icon back, it won't stay in the correct position within the fence...at least not right away. I have to try to move it to the correct location, sometimes as many as 10 times before it stays there! I've tried unchecking "auto-arrange to grid" and "lock Fences". Nothing seems to work. I think I've even tried taking all 5 icons out of the fence and manually replacing them and it still doesn't stay in the right order. I can't use snapshot since I'm deleting an icon and adding a new one. I know it's a minor thing, but it's been doing this for many months (if not longer) so it's become more and more aggravating as time goes by. If anyone has a solution, you'd make me a very happy woman!

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. But, I do believe, it is best to upgrade to Fences 4 if you on latest release version of Windows 10/11. Anyway, please post a video of this issue and I will try to reproduce your issue on my Windows 10 system. Also, please include information:

  1. Windows full version number. Use Winver.exe.
  2. Fences full verison number.

Thanks

Will an upgrade to Fences 4 change any of my current fences etc.?

You can use these steps to backup you layout snapshots: https://forums.stardock.com/486084/fences-support-faq#backupsnapshots.

Also, do know that, there is free 30 days trial, so you can see if your issue still there on Fences 4.

Thank you,

I just wasn't sure if all my Fences 3 would transfer over to 4. I use snapshot all the time. Thanks for the help. I really appreciate it!

I installed Fences 4 and that did not solve my problem. Here's my info: Windows 11 Home Version 22H2, OS build 22621.1413 and

Fences 4 Version 4.1.  Unfortunately, my built in recorder won't allow me to record my desktop. Any suggestions would be helpful. I am attaching a labeled screenshot that at least shows/tells you what I'm talking about.

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. You can use MS Clipchamp to capture your desktop. Its free and easy to use. I discovered very recently.

Thanks

Clipchamp was way beyond my capabilities and I was still unable to figure out how to record the desktop. I was able to come up with a solution though. If I don't delete the old folder and move the camera icon out of that fence, then move the new folder into the fence, I can delete the old folder & then move the camera icon back into the fence and it stays in the right position. Much easier than me trying to make a video.|-)  Thanks so much for your help!

I was going to ask you what sorting setting you have on?
