Start11

Small Icons No longer working

Start 11 working fine a few weeks ago. The small icons now no longer work in the task menu. I wonder if it is asssociated with a windows 11 update? Any help appreciated.  I know it is still working as the blur function still active?

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. Need more information on your system. Windows full version number. Start11 version and screenshot of the area you mean "task menu"?

Thanks

Hi,

Taskbar at bottom of screen. (see pic below). If I select large/medium/small it makes no difference. They used to be really small so I could see a lot of apps when in portrait mode as tablet.

Start Ver: 1.42

WIN Ver: Win 11 Home. 10.0.22621 Build 22621

Thanks

Do you have the enhanced taskbar setting enabled?

Yes. The blur function is working.

Are you are also restarting explorer when you change the size?

Are you sure you have enabled the enhanced taskbar option?  The blur control is entirely unrelated to that.

Also your taskbar must not be an autohide taskbar.

Why cant it be an auto-hide taskbar? It was previously and the small icons worked?

Definitely enabled enhanced task-bar. This has worked for months. I haven't touched any settings and it now has stopped working?

I have switched off auto-hide and icons still not small. I think it is something to with a windows update.....

I have reset computer and small icons now work, but only if taskbar not pop-up. This is definitely a change in behaviour over the past 2 weeks. V. strange, Used to have task-bar pop-up with small icons? I'd rather disable updates to windows to restore this functionality but not sure which update responsible?

The March update to Windows 11 removed the OSes native ability to support small and large modes.  Hence the new restriction with autohide taskbars.
