Start11 taskbar blocks keyboard input into search with windows defender running

Running Windows 22H2 22621.1413 and Start11 1.41

Repro

Press Windows key on keyboard

Start typing

Exected behaviour -> search results appear and I can open applications

Actual behaviour -> keyboard is blocked.

Also I cannot click on any taskbar icons when the start 11 menu is shown

I've added every single exe in the Start11 folder to Windows Defender exclusions, including process names and the folder itself with no help.

Disabling all defender, anti tamper, cloud sample submission etc fixes the problem instantly. Re-enabling defender again afterwards and Start 11 continues to function as expected.

Any ideas on how to fix this?

Also another question. The Start11 search (which is quite good) is it possible to get it to use the voidtools everything search engine backend? I have found this to be a brilliant search tool and it would be great to allow the ability to use 3rd party search integration.

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. But, sorry, I can not reproduce you issue on my system. Please review my video below and see if you can see where I go wrong and fail to reproduce your issue.

Would like to suggest. Uninstall Start11, reboot immediately, download the latest version V1.42 reboot again. Retest and report back.

Thanks

Also the question about a third party search engine (as we all agree the windows one is bollocks). Is that possible to hook into?

End of rolandcharrison's quote

That is not something that is available at this time

As for the keyboard issue, did you uninstall, reboot, reinstall with the latest version?
