Unable to select programs that are grouped on taskbar

Grouped taskbar icons don't show open windows, they either don't work or open/close one

I can't find the setting anymore, but I believe I selected to show the icons on the taskbar separately until there are too many of them. Unfortunately, whenever windows are collapsed into icon groups to make space, they become non-functional. If chrome or OneNote has multiple windows on the icon, clicking them should bring up the little preview to select a window, but clicking on the taskbar icon either does nothing or affects only 1 window out of all the collapsed ones. *Upon further testing, the previews open if I hover over them, but not if I click, (which is still breaking the startbar and slowing my workflow down). This happens on both the primary monitor taskbar and the secondary. Is there a way to fix this?

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. But, unfortunately your attached video does not show us anything that we can understand. Also need more information on your issue.

  1. I assume you on Windows 11 yes? Not on Insider or Beta preview version? Need to know your full version number please. Use Winver.exe.
  2. You on Start11 version number?
  3. Try giving us full screen grab so its easier to understand.

Thanks

My apologies, I didn't check the video and it recorded the wrong area of the screen. This one should be better, although the hover no longer works either. I'd send you a screenshot, but it's difficult to take a picture of something that isn't happening. However, you can in the video, I have two instances of Microsoft Word that are grouped on the taskbar, clicking the taskbar icon only shows/hides whichever document was last selected.

Start11 version is 1.36.

Hello,
From your video. It look like the Taskbar preview do not work. Try this, uninstall Start11, reboot immediately after. Check if Taskbar preview work while Start11 not install.

If yes, proceed to download and install latest Start11 version in your account product page. (V1.38 Beta) https://store.stardock.com/myaccount/products. Reboot immediately after the installation complete. Retest and report back.

If, no, Taskbar preview still don't work after Start11 uninstalled, check this https://www.thewindowsclub.com/tenable-or-disable-taskbar-thumbnail-preview-in-windows-10

Thanks
