Start Menu not workiong when "Enhance the Taskbar" enabled

Reproducible reliably

Start 11 Start Menu on my laptop just stopped working; clicking on the “Start” button produces nothing (no menu). If I disable “Let Start11 Enhance the Taskbar” then it starts to work as expected.

I have tried Windows 10 and Windows 11 menus. The “Start” button only produces a menu with the above setting turned off. If I revert to the normal windows 11 start menu, it works. Turning on Start11 again then still shows no menu.

I have tried rebooting, as well as restarting Explorer several times.

Using Windows 11 (latest) + StartMenu 1.25.

Sorry to hear you are having issues. What Windows 11 full version number please. Use Winver.exe to get that number.

Please try purge and reinstall steps as mention here : [Link]. Just make sure to redownload the latest version from your account page. Reboot after the purge. Reinstall and reboot again after the installation. Retest and report back here.

Done; it lost all my start menu groups (no big deal) and still has exactly the same problem. FWIW, I also updated Win11 to 21H2 (22000.918), which also did not fix it.

It works with a clean account.

What I have done/retried in main account:

  • Run Purge_StartALL.bat script again; note that there are several messages regarding invalid names
  • Manually deleted any registry nodes/keys with 'Stardock' in their name (there were a lot)
  • Rebooted
  • Re-installed

Same problem persists: enabling "Let start11 enhance the taskbar" results in the "Start Menu" not displaying.

Minor note: the "StartStart10_11.bat" file refers to a non-existent service; I manually started the "Stardoc Start11" service during the clean boot test.

If it work on a new clean account, that something is blocking it from working on your main account.

Yes, that does seem likely.

How do I diagnose the problem? Are there logs, or errors reported anywhere by the app?
