EVERYTHING is gone off desktop..........no fences no nothing

I was working and put a new folder in a fence. The folder was so close to the edge when I tried to grab it.........................EVERYTHING, EVERYTHING is gone. like it was all drug off the edge. But, when I tried to drag things back, only the one folder came back. nothing else. I can't find years worth of folders. This really stresses me out
