Annoying Bug

Taskbar effects fences 3

Hi, I want to report a bug and let anyone who comes across this be aware.

I use regular Fences 3 with no beta download. I have double monitors and I prefer to see my Wallpaper Engines wallpaper without the annoying taskbar in the way. Problem is that when I say to "automatically hide my taskbar" in the settings (I have Windows 11) Fences 3 immediately crashes scattering my fences and breaking Wallpaper Engine causing my entire background to turn black. The only way to fix this is to tell it to not automatically hide my taskbar and unplug my second monitor or force restart and it goes back to normal.

If I keep hiding my taskbar my whole monitor freezes up, causing my entire monitor to constantly flicker in and out as if my windows keep constantly resetting.

This bug only works with double monitors, hiding my taskbar with one monitor on seems to still work.

I need to change my wallpaper again every time the crash turns my background black.

This bug doesn't care if you have Wallpaper Engine it will still bug with it off.

I am keeping my taskbar showing now to prevent it but if anyone knows a way around this where I can hide my taskbar and still use fences with my double monitors I would greatly appreciate it.

Fences 3 is not compatible with Windows 11.

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. Not sure what you mean by "go back a download"? Go back to Windows 10? My advice is go up instead, upgrade to Fences V4 for best compatibility and support on Windows 11 Release version.

Hello,

Oh sorry, I meant to go back a version of fences, I didn't know fences 4 was a thing. I use steam so steam only shows 3. How would I access that version? The betas in the properties tabs are all still in version 3 as well.

Thank you for the reply.

Go back a version of Fences 3, I believe, would not solve your issue.

As for Fences 4, it still not available on Steam for some reasons that is unknown to me, hopefully soon. But, you can purchase a new keys for Fences 4 directly from Stardock using this link : https://www.stardock.com/products/fences/. Also note that you can do the 30 days free trial to see if your issue is resolve on Fences 4.

Thank you,

Hello,

I want to check on something with this. Fences is actually crashing or are you getting the pop-up telling that Fences has been temporarily disabled?  (see below)

Hello,

So recently, this bug has been random with what it does. It has just disorganized my apps outside of my fences and reset my checked box of "hide taskbar" without me doing anything currently. Around a week ago, that notification popped up whether I clicked ok or left it alone. My entire Windows flickers and the message pops up again or has the ding notification like it popped up even when I never clicked out. I had to force shut off my computer because I couldn't go to shut off from the taskbar, which was freaking out. I uninstalled fences afterward and left my desktop alone for a few days. When I returned, I reinstalled Fences; I realized that the bug happens when I turn on "hide my taskbar," which would explain why my taskbar was freaking out before. Still, it only happens when I have my second monitor connected.

I just did another test and realized that if I uncheck the "Show taskbar on all my monitors" and then "hide my taskbar," The bug doesn't happen. If I check "Show taskbar on all my monitors" while "hide my taskbar" is connected, the bug happens again.

I hope this information helps.
