i need help with wallpaper

You did put the wall into your windows folder? If so it should be in your list.Make sure its a .BMP

Extract the wallpaper to the Windows folder.   oops WOM beat me to it........ btw WOM, if he's runnig XP, it doesn't have to be a bmp.

bmp is an image file extension, but don't worry about it if you running XP. 

It is a file format. Koasati, I don't think .jpeg's will stay in the list. I know .BMP's will.

im sorry ,i know this isnt a help desk,but when i download do i hit open or do i hit save,could some give me instructions how to do it im a fast learner,so i shoudnt bug you once its explained to me....

Save the download to a specific folder, or to the desktop (so you'll know where it is) Extract it from there to C:\Windows. 

WOM, I have no trouble with jpgs showing in the Display properties, though I'll admit, that's not how I manage my walls. I think images in the My Pictures folder show in Display properties also.

Koasati, I wonder why they don't stay on my list. When I browes and apply them they are there. When I change to another wall it is gone. Thats why I convert all jpeg's tp bmp's. Oh well, who knows.

WOM.....Windows never seems to work exactly the same way for everyone.......... quite frustrating at times, ain't it?  

Ever get your problems straightened out Koasati?

XP will also display them all IF they are in "My Pictures" shows up here anyway *.jpg *.gif *.bmp

mine dont but thats not the way I choose walls anyway

i figured it when i aplly it as wallpaper before i change to a new one i hitsave as next to the theme name in display propertys type in the name and finally they stay i knew it wouldnt take too long to figure out,,,,thanks everybody your cool people

malakye24.....if you save to 'set as background' it will be overwritten by the next one you DL in that way.

To save properly, choose 'save as' and surf to C:\windows\web\wallpaper which is the default location for wall images in XP.....but also c:\windows, and your %user%\my pictures will be read for image content....

Well, if it worked for you then that is good.

But, you probably can't even see the file extensions that everyone is talking about. This is the default setting to protect new users of the operating system. It hides the file extensions. You can change it by opening a folder on your hard drive and clicking tools(at the top bar), then folder options, and the view tab. Then, uncheck the box that says "hide extensions for known file types". Then, you can see the .bmp or .jpg file extensions in your folders. There are other settings there that you might want to change once you are comfortable and want more control of your system. Such as "show hidden files and folders". Most poeple want to know every file and folder on their system for fighting spyware.

Also, if you see the picture file, you can right click it, and choose copy. Then you can open the windows folder, and use the scroll bar to move to a blank space on the end and right click and choose paste. This will paste that picture to your windows folder.

Also, you can use paint to open a picture file and save it anywhere you want and with the extension, that you want. I recommend that you save all your backgrounds in the windows folder as .bmp(24 bit bitmaps) not .jpg. Then, you won't have a problem viewing them from display properties.

If you are new to windows, it might take awhile to understand all of this, but this is what you want to do. That being, understanding how to use files and the common programs. Eventually, you'll get it, it just takes time, and patience.
