Using version 31.3.3. Software is marked to retain snapshot for 3 days, but my app retains them for months. Right now I have to delete snapshots individually... that's a lot. suggestion?

Sorry to hear you are having issues. Need to know you on Windows 7,8,10 0r 11? And its full version numbers. Please use Winver.exe to get those.
Also, try, delete all old autosave snapshots. Than, please try purge and reinstall steps as mention here : [Link]. Just make sure to redownload the latest version from your account page. Reboot after the purge. Reinstall and reboot again after the installation. Retest and report back here.

Using Win 7 Ultimate Version 6.1 (Build7601: Service Pack 1). Fences ver. 3.1.3.3 is up to date. Snap shots go back to 2020. I'd rather just purge and reinstall. Would that be okay?
Purge don't delete off saved layout snapshot. But if you go to this guide : https://forums.stardock.com/486084/fences-support-faq#backupsnapshots. In there mention where the snapshots are saved. Should be okay to delete it off once you done the purge and reboot.
