I wouldn't see a problem with having Serial Child Molester's, Rapists etc. penalized with 'Castration'.

When 'Abortion' becomes a method of 'Birth Control'...Then yes, time to find other forms of controlling irresponsible behaviour.

Chas, look into it and you'll find there are great problems with 'having the Uterus removed', far beyond preventing child birth. I'm not aware that it is ever used as birth control.

Okay, I'm not a medical doctor and I never claimed to be. Maybe its having the ovaries removed. I just don't agree with abortion. I agree with a persons right to choice. But, not when it comes to someone elses life. The couples choice ends when they decide to have sex and concieve/produce a baby. After that, there is a third life involved and no one should have the right to end an innocent persons life. After conception, I believe the couples choice ends and it becomes a matter of responsibility. And yes, I do agree with you, Zodiaq, Castration would be a strong deterrent. Rapists are vile animals, and should probably be castrated. But child molesters are perverts. If it is just fondling, while sick, is a different thing.
We claim to be too civilized for Sterilizing Crack Mothers or Castrating Rapists. But, it is this same civilized society that created them. Hmm.

Also, I think it requires an egg and sperm to produce a child. I believe a sperm is an organism, and it doesn't bring life until it is combined successfully with an egg.

Actually, Chas, an organism is a form of life. So it doesn't need an egg to bring life.  A sperm and an egg produce a fertilised egg; nothing much more really at that point. Not even a human being yet. Not a faetus either, not even an embrio. Just another organism - to take your word - some weird cell, that eventually splits in two, then in four, then in 16, and so on...  At that stage, it's called a zygote. But when does it stop being just a multicellular organism and start being a baby?

paxxy another one of those questions nobody can say for sure I guess...
but my personal guess is I think at the "moment" of conception and the two are joined together, it is then a fused human being alive and completely mapped out at that precise moment and then begins growing...

whether aborted at weeks, days or mos does not matter that human being was fused and alive and thriving...

but a womens decision to abort should be her own cuz it's only her that is held accountable for that life.
