Possible S11 problem, Excel stops accepting input

I've been having an issue for months but never considered it could be related to S11. I open an excel spreadsheet and while working, I suddenly can't move between cells (mouse or kybd). Trying to click on a new tab in excel just causes a slight flash in the UI. I can still select the menu and if I save and reopen the workbook, it might work for a few minutes or it might almost immediately start doing it again. I found that if I right-click S11 and uncheck the "Use Start11 Start Menu" option, the open session in Excel works again. Could S11 have any impact in another app like this or is it just coincidence?

After more testing, it seems that clicking out of that excel window into another and then going back again has the same impact. The timing is still weird, so it could be related. Going to disable S11 for a day or two and see if the behavior changes. Will report back.

Sorry to hear you are having issues. Need to know more on your system and issue.

  1. Windows 10 or 11? And its full version numbers please. Use Winver.exe to get to it.
  2. Start11 version numbers.
  3. MS Office versions.
  4. When it happen, it effect only excel? Does typing into MS Word still work?
  5. Does it happen every time excel open on any excel spreadsheet?
  6. It happen randomly?
  7. Does it still happen if you switch to On-screen keyboard?
  8. Does the issue stop when do you Explorer.exe restart?
