Fences Functionality & Possible Bug Questions

I am evaluating Fences to organize a desktop full of icons. Testing the app, I have run into a couple of possible bugs and some functionality questions. Any assistance would be appreciated. Nice app with some challenges.

POSSIBLE SOFTWARE BUGS or LACK of USER APP KNOWLEDGE?

1. If I delete a fence that I have moved icons into, the icons do not always get moved back to my desktop. Is this a software bug or a app setting?

2. A fence creates the fence label at the top of the fence. If you move the fence to the top of the screen, it moves the label to the bottom of the fence. Is there a away to turn off fence labels? I am aware that I don't need to populate the label.

3. When I place a fence at the top of the screen and then delete the fence, the icons that are placed back on the desktop are always one row down from their original top of screen position. I have tried the various combination of the Layout and Snapping options with no success.

4. Disabling Fences causes a lot of desktop icon movement. i.e. Icons are moved to incorrect locations, especially the top row. I have tried the various combination of the Layout and Snapping options with no success.

FUNCTIOLALITY:

1. Is there any way to select more than one fence to change their attributes simultaneously without selecting ALL Fences in Color and Appearance? i.e. If I have ten fences and want to modify the attributes of five fences to the same attributes.

2. Icon Spacing in Fences: When you create a fence with multiple icons, regardless of the sort method, you are unable to leave a horizontal or vertical space between icons (with of an icon). Is there a way to do this? I have created a dummy icon for this purpose buts its a remedial hack. I am trying to organize a multiple row and column fence but I don't want all the icons consecutively. i.e. Two in row one, 3 in row two, etc.

3. Is there a way to disable Fences without having to bring up the Fences Home screen and disabling Fences via the checkbox? Is there a shortcut available to turn Fences on and off? I am asking about Windows startup.

4. Is there a way to move the fence labels to the bottom, right, or left of the fence?

I would appreciate any assistance that can be provided.

Thx!

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues.

1. If I delete a fence that I have moved icons into, the icons do not always get moved back to my desktop. Is this a software bug or a app setting?

Never seen this happen. Unless you delete portal Fences. Can you post a video of this happening on your system.

2. A fence creates the fence label at the top of the fence. If you move the fence to the top of the screen, it moves the label to the bottom of the fence. Is there a away to turn off fence labels? I am aware that I don't need to populate the label.

You can hide all Fences labels. But, not for those rolled up fences.

3. When I place a fence at the top of the screen and then delete the fence, the icons that are placed back on the desktop are always one row down from their original top of screen position. I have tried the various combination of the Layout and Snapping options with no success.

Not really sure on this one, please post a video of it, so we can understand it better.

When you disable Fences, Fences will stop its control over icons on desktop. You just need to do the "auto arrange icons" and Sort to which ever sorting of your choice to move those icons back to its normal location.

1. Is there any way to select more than one fence to change their attributes simultaneously without selecting ALL Fences in Color and Appearance? i.e. If I have ten fences and want to modify the attributes of five fences to the same attributes.

At this moment no.

2. Icon Spacing in Fences: When you create a fence with multiple icons, regardless of the sort method, you are unable to leave a horizontal or vertical space between icons (with of an icon). At this moment no. All icons will be arrange, starting from the top left. You can't skip a slot or put an icon anywhere within that Fence. There were request by other for this feature to be added, but so far, not available yet.

3. Is there a way to disable Fences without having to bring up the Fences Home screen and disabling Fences via the checkbox? Is there a shortcut available to turn Fences on and off? I am asking about Windows startup.

You can disable Fences startup in your task manager.

4. Is there a way to move the fence labels to the bottom, right, or left of the fence?
End of quote

No, at this moment. Only to the bottom if you move that fence to the top screen edge.
