custome start button

what size?

I have Win11 and Start11. Both work great. BUT, when I choose to customize the start button with my picture, it won't size correctly to fit in the taskbar. Some parts are chopped off, sometimes a picture will be almost 1/2 of the taskbar, etc. What size png should I be using to get my picture sized correctly for the start button on the taskbar?

The best way is to look at what others have made. You can download some and look at the sizes and how they are put together here: Start Menu Buttons Gallery

The picture should be about the same size as the start menu / taskbar. Pictures can be both resized and cropped to fit using the built in Microsoft photo editor. When you open up the picture just kind of compare it's size to whatever you have adjusted as your start menu size. If a picture is 1/2 the size of your taskbar that is an easy fix, either crop or resize the photo's height by 1/2.

To Crop go to edit image

Crop

To Resize right click empty area and select resize

Then open photo and compare its size to the menu and see if it matches up.

That is not correct. The start menu butten is not one image, but a strip of three images for the different states. Look at this one:

I read it wrong. I thought he was talking about the custom pictures inside of the menu not the button. My mistake.
