Fences 4 installation fails - flagged as trojan

New member here and new to Stardock products.

I tried to install Fences 4 trial software on a brand new Windows 11 PC today. During the installation process, an anti-virus software I have on my PC (Acronis Cyber Protect Home Office) flagged a temporary file as a possible trojan and halted the installation process. Thinking that was perhaps a fluke, I excluded that file from being flagged, then attempted to install Fences 4 again. Same issue arose, but with a different temporary file. After doing the same thing about 4 times (excluding another offending temporary file and then attempting to install again), I gave up and decided this software is not ready for prime time.

(I know. Shouldn't have even made this many attempts to install, but oh well.)

I have no doubt that I could successfully install this by disabling my anti-virus software, but that's like taking off a hazmat suit when you need it. No way am I doing that.

Interestingly, prior to this experience with Fences 4 and an hour or so earlier, I was able to successfully install and use Start11 with no problems.

I do like what Fences 4 seems to offer, but with my anti-virus software flagging the installation files as possible trojans, I'll pass on this software until the bugs are worked out. Just wanted you folks to know so you could address this issue.

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. I believe, if you download the installation file from Stardock direct or from legitimate site, than this should be false positive. Else, Stardock would have lots more reports from others on this same subject.

Thanks

For the record, I downloaded the installation file directly from the Stardock website. I have no idea why my anti-virus software would flag the installation file as a trojan. Do what you will with this information.

This is not an exercise that showed 'bugs', rather, an over-aggressive AV software or settings that are higher than the default.  Fences runs without such issues on hundreds of thousands of PCs daily.

I would add that this is not uncommon when a new product (installer) is released - that AV products, because they have not seen them prior, auto-flags it as suspicious.  Over time, that stops.
