unable to connect to activation server

Did a clean install of my windows 10 for Christmas and when installing Fences 4 trial (I have a Fences 3 license) I run into "Unable to connect to Activation server".

Already tried turn internet connection on and off (it was a suggested in a forum post), turn off my firewall, disabling the host file.

Nothing. Worst yet, my firewall doesn't show an attempt.

Hate the forced online activation system. Maybe great for you guys, terrible for your customers.

What can I do. At this point, I can't even get my v3 working.

Any way to active offline? (tried with the ethernet off but no love)

Thanks,

Alfred

Found a laptop with windows 8.1 and bought it (I really hate windows `10 and the things it doesn't allow you to do).   I bought a StarDock package with app packages.  I used and like Fences on my other laptop with Windows 10, but I can't get it to run on this laptop.   Is it that 8.1 doesn't support the app or my .net version which I believe is 4.5. ?  Any suggestions?

If you talking about Fences V4. Yes, Fences V4 is not compatible with Windows 8.1. Fences 4 is only for Windows 10/11.

Thanks for your quick response, it's appreciated.

Your suggestions doesn't apply to v4 trial.

I did get it to work with v3 and I'll avoid upgrading to v4 to save the time hassle.

I get the desire for the activation server (to avoid piracy) but honestly, do pirates really risk getting infected to save $10?

Hope you have a good and save new year.
