Fences has detected that explorer was not closed properly error!

So I have Fences 4 for windows 11 and it used to work but now it tells me that Fences has detected that explorer was not closed properly. It tells me that to re-enable fences I just have to right-click my desktop and choose "Enable Fences" and when I do the app icons dissapear for a second, then the desktop turns gray, then the desktop becomes normal and the icons come back but no fences and tells me the error again. I had this problem before and it worked when I clicked "Enable Fences" but not this time. I have purchased fences, restarted my pc, and reinstalled fences but nothing works. I use the non-steam version of the app.

My specs are:

Windows 11

Ryzen 5 2600

GTX 1660

Thanks

I have this same error.  I have written to Stardock, but there is no technical support at the company and no one seems to care.

Basj, I downloaded the WINDBG file and it runs on the error that Fences generates.  But my screens do not match the sample screens provided by Stardock in its post.  I can not figure out what to ZIP and where to place the Zip file.   Kindly help.  The constanct FENCES crashes are driving me bonkers!

If its actually Windows 11 and Fences 4.10. Please try purge and reinstall steps as mention here : [Link]. Just make sure to redownload the latest version from your account page. Reboot after the purge. Reinstall and reboot again after the installation. Retest and report back here.

Sorry, I am using Windows 11 and previously gave you the exact build from Microsoft. I already purged using the stardock software, rebooted and reinstalled. It made no difference.  The error still persists.  It appears to have started just after I downloaded a Microsoft Windows update.  Whatever version of fences 4 that I am using is what stardoc supplied and a download from your company.

Do you have any icons/shortcut that link to share/network drive or folders within your desktop Fences? If you do, please try these steps: move those into a folder and reboot. Enable Fences, if it working, move those icons back into the desktop area one at a time until you found one or few that causing the issue.

Thank you,

I can confirm that my Fences version is 4.12.  I have no share/network drives stored in a Fences that I know of.  The only icon in a fence is "This PC" but I do not think it is a "shared drive."

Need to know if this is Corporate System? With software like Forcepoint/Websense running in the background?

Thank you,

No.  This is a personal computer, not a Corporate system.  There is no Forcepoint or Websense running (I don't even know what those are!)

I finally figured out how to zip and upload the DUMP file from WINDBG:

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1SDpA-35PrdY-RCqO6-tryCYSDimbhtAb/view?usp=drive_link

I am using

Edition Windows 11 Home

Version 22H2

Installed on ‎11/‎6/‎2022

OS build 22621.1702

Experience Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.22641.1000.0

I desperately need your help to stop the crashes.

Basj,

The Error Fences 4 has with Windows Explorer is really troubling.  I have been reaching out to Stardock for many weeks and have been told be be patient.  But my work is suffering because of the constant BugSplat Error messaging and crashing of my desktop due to Fences malfunctioning.

I tried rolling back the last Windows OS Update but it had no effect.  I then deleted and reinstalled Fences 4.12.  Still no effect.

This problem needs to be quickly addressed by Stardock.  What is the realistic timeline involved to address the issue to a good resolution?
