Fences restarts when using windows split screen
On fences 3.1.3.3, when I try to split screen on windows 10, it causes fences to quit and restart. This did not happen with previous versions.

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. Please try purge and reinstall steps as mentioned here: [link]. Just make sure to redownload the latest version from your account. Reboot after the purged. Reinstall, and Reboot again after the installation. Retest it. Report back here.

Thank you for your suggestion. Unfortunately, it did not solve the problem. I went through the purge and reinstall steps twice, and even upgraded to the most recent version (4.0.0.3).
I continue to have the same problem. When I quick snap a window, the entire desktop goes blank, then black, then everything restarts including Fences.
Once it happens, sometimes it will be stable for a while (i.e., I can go back to snapping windows no problem), but other times its relentless.
Please try cleanboot as mention here : https://forums.stardock.com/486084/fences-support-faq#cleanboot, try those and report back here.
Thank you,

I tried the cleanboot method, and this did not work.
I eventually found this trick from a 2019 post. My problem only seems to occur when snapping during a remote desktop session. I changed the background to solid color instead of a picture and so far haven't seen the problem for a few days. Hoping this tidbit can help someone else.

Follow up to this. After 5 additional days of remote logins where I set the background to a solid color, I have had no further crashes.
