Is there a way to move a single icon between pages?

There doesn't seem to be a clear way to move a single desktop icon between fences pages. It's not the best for trying to organize your desktop, As I need to make a temporary fence or use a folder to as a buffer for an icon. Is there is a way to do this I've missed? If it doesn't exist can it be added?
