Start 11 RC Clock / Notification Area Removed From Taskbar

I installed the new Start 11 update on two different laptops.  I choose the Windows 10 layout.  Something I noticed on both laptops (one only running on main monitor, no external and the other does have an external display).  Both of them the clock, icons and notification area where removed from the taskbar on the right side and the only way I was able to get it back was to uninstall Start 11 and go back to the default windows 11.  Am I missing something or is this a bug in the RC update?

Also in the screenshot the "^" that you do see on the right, does nothing.

Did you reboot after making the taskbar use small icons?

I ask as sometimes windows is a little fragile about explorer restarting.

I did, I tried with all 3 sized icons on both machines.  I tried the restart windows explorer and also reboots.

I figured it out.  Its the custom button.  If I go into start button and toggle that on and off, it comes and goes.

Interesting.  Does it break with all buttons or only some options?

Also what dpi is your setup running?

yep, up and working now.  For anyone else that experiences this.  Open the configuration and on the left side choose Start Button.  Turn off using a custom start button.  Then just restart Windows Explorer.  The clock and notification area will come back.

One Laptop is a Lenovo Legion and the other if the Frame.work laptop.  In the display settings I just set scaling to 100% on both machine and use the native resolution.

Frame.work is 2256*1504 and the Lenovo Legion main display is 1920*1080 and the external monitor plugging into it is 3840*2160

I went through the different ones and they all did it.  I am thinking this might be a bug with Windows 11 as I am seeing some weird stuff with the taskbar over the last two weeks.  I am on the Dev Branch for Win11 and sometimes I see multiple "^" in the taskbar till I do a restart of Windows Explorer.  So it might be related to that.  But, I am glad it's working.  Would be cool to have a custom button, but I am ok with not having that to have a much better start menu.

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. What version of Start11 you have installed? Have you try the latest beta? https://forums.stardock.com/511199

Thanks

I am using version 1.1. I use this on my work computer so I would prefer not to be using the beta version.

Its okay, than you will need to wait until the none beta version release. And I hope you're not on Windows 11 Beta or Inside preview release.

Thank you,

Use Insider on my home PC which had the same issue. The beta of this on that device does not seem to have the same issue.

If you are using the beta of Windows then you need the beta of Start11.

The alternative is you are not running the latest release version which is 1.11.  I would recommend installing that.

The issue this thread is about was fixed a very long time ago
