Background of Fences 3 is blurred with DeskScapes 11

Hello,
I use DeskScape 8 and Fences 3 and love it. I always have a beach video as background. As you can see on the left of the screenshot, the picture of the beach behind the fence (40%) is clearly visible.

Today I bought DeskScape 11 and suddenly the beach image behind the fence is blurred and no longer recognizable (right side of the screenshot). That's awful, I want so see the bautiful beach.

That bothers me, I am very disappointed and upset because I spent extra money on the new version and I am dissatisfied.

Questions:
1. Why did they change it from DeskScape 8 to 11?
2. Is it possible to adjust the transparency in Fences 3 without the annoying blur-effect?
3. Could you update Fences 3 with a "sharp <--> blurred slider"?

regards

It looks like you may have turned on the blur feature in Fences.

In fences settings tell it not to blur the background of fences.

Hello Neil,
thank you for your reply.

I only deinstalled DeskScapes 8 and installed the DeskScape 11. I haven't changed anything in Fences 3.

I searched in the settings of Fences 3 but can't find anything about blur. Only in a hint that appears after activating the function in the screenshot. It says that blur effects are not compatible with animated/video backgrounds.

Could you please post a sceenshot where I can find the settings you described.

Hello AzDude,
thanks, your screenshot gives me hope. But I want the setting with 40 % as in my screenshot but without blur effect.

My Fences version is Fences 3.1.05. And there is no Update. Where did you get 3.1.2 from?

That setting is the blur one.  When disabled you should be fine as there will be no blur.

With DS8 the blur would be done by Fences and not be compatible with animations.  With DS10/11 the blur is handled by DeskScapes and is compatible with animations.

There is a setting in Deskscapes under performance.  Click settings button bottom left of UI to get a settings menu and pick settings on that.  Then click the performance tab and there is an option to let DeskScapes take over Fences 3 background blurring.  Disabling that would revert back to DS8 behaviour.

That does not work.

1. I have the video background "Tropical Beach / White Sand Aqua Ocean"  Videezy Tropical Beach , YouTube.
2. Of course I want the fences to be transparent, so that I can see the beach behind the fences. Therefore this setting has to be enabled in F3. When disabled it is not transparent and dark, I don't want that.

3. When I disable "DeskScapes take over Fences 3 background blurring" in DS11 perfocmance tab, then the video only behind the fences is stopped and static, also fences are much darker with strange edges (looks like a bug). By the way it would be much more user-friendly with a slider "sharp <---> blurred"

4. When I enable it then I can see the video but blurred. I hate that, I want to see the beautiful beach video without annoying blure-effect.

5. In DS8 everything was correct: Fences were transparent (40% visible), no blure and the video was visible (left side of the screenshot). I want it exactly like that in DS11. How does it work? Please also offer screenshots.

I solved the problem.

1. After disableing this feature (DeskScapes take over Fences 3 background blurring) the fences looked like a bug. The video only behind the fences is stopped and static, also fences are much darker with strange edges. But it's the right way to turn off the blurring.

2. I just restarted the PC to see if it works then. And yes that solved the problem. It works now. Fences are transparent (40 % visible), no blurring and the video is visible. I am happy.

There is no hint anywhere that the PC must be restarted. I suggest a hint or a restart window that then opens. Maybe it is due to the DS11 beta version.
