Anyone fancy creating skins and icon sets for web baased application?

Hi,

At Convea we have an open source web application http://www.convea.com/ that mimics the desktop gui. At present it has 3 default skins with icon sets.

I was wandering if anyone would be interested in creating more sets or optimising their current icon sets for the web?

Let me know your thought...

Hi,

As the project is distributed under dual licensing and open source there are 2 ways that it can work:

1) Your skins / iconsets are created for free and distributed under the GPL

2) Your skins / iconsets are created and made available for a fee as an add-on to our product. So in essence it becomes a third party add-on.

As the product is web based and most skinning activity is for local client apps, I think it will be different working on Convea (CSS + icons).

sounds like a cool program. Its more like groupware right? being that I am lazy, how does it integrate with other company systems? does this replace old systems? do you have to migrate the data from the old system to the new one?

Does it have data mining? Text mining? Can in extract data from a transactional processing system (TPS)?

asking all these questions basically to see how useful the program is. Depending on its usefulness and reliability I would recommend skinners/designers to get on board.

I would suggest if it is not going to be paid then the designer should get more 'star room' or recognition on the project and when clients look at the GUI they know who did it.

As I sit in my technically driven school, I am surrounded by current or former managers, programmers, intranet administrators and software developers and the last thing we ever talk about is the UI or GUI even though it is almost as important as the system working.

The user interface is a last thought and almost unimportant by many standard and forget about graphic user interface. It would seem that no one gives graphics the light of day and when they do it is a add on and not very much respected as something to pay for.


Time for a change I say
