Not working with Messenger app

I used to be able to group Messenger app (the one from the Windows store) with other programs, but now, for some reason it doesn't work. I've tried restarting but it still doesn't work.

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. Need to know more on your system.

  1. Windows version, please use Windows "Winver.exe" for Windows full version numbers.
  2. Groupy version.
  3. What version of Messenger you have on.

I am running Groupy V1.49.1 and on Windows V20H2 (OS Build 19042.1052), but, I can group it.

It the issue happening while trying to group Messanger with any application such as Windows explorer or notepad? Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling Messenger?

I only remember trying it on Chrome, Discord, and Steam.

However, I uninstalled and reinstalled Messenger and it now seems to be working. I then went ahead to turn off hardware acceleration, then afterwards the problem goes back. I tried uninstalling it then downloading it again from Windows Store, yet it keeps getting an error, so I opted to just download it straight from the web. This time, the problem is gone whether or not hardware acceleration is on.

I wonder if your issue only on Windows Messenger? Any other application not grouping?

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. I believe you're running preview version of Windows which is not supported.

Thanks

Okay, I understand, but as I mentioned there.

No, nothing yet on this one. But, from what my understanding, if an application is using non standard titlebar. Than it is hard for Groupy to group them with other application.

Hi, just bumping this post as it's still an issue. I'm on the trial version and considering buying, but if messenger won't work I probably won't buy

Messenger.169.0.0.17.103
Windows 10 Version 10.0.19044 Build 19044

Hello,

I just checked and the current version of Messenger no longer work with Groupy. Seem like they are moving away from Windows standard titlebar. Which cannot work with Groupy. When I first post on this thread, reply#1 in July 2021, my guess is, Messenger was still using Standard titlebar back then.

I believe, there will be new update/upgrade for Groupy, but, I can not tell you when it will be release.

Is it possible to get this working if we can find an old version of messenger somewhere? Or has FB blocked that?

I'm also thinking to buy, but only if it's going to work with Messenger...

To answer my own question, yes, if you're ok with running a very old version (97.11.116) then you can get grouping back working

Edit: Oh nope, it will auto update - so that's no good :(

Same issue here. Bought Groupy, and didn't think I would run into this issue.
