sorry i phased it wrong. I should of asked how I create it myself and where to find a tutorial about sysmetrix.

I don't know of any tutorials on SysMetrix, but that doesn't mean there isn't any. Have you tried a search? The best way I know of to learn how to skin something, is take an existing skin apart,  to see how it is put together.

I did that koa and I ended up reinsatalling windows because i did not know what I was doing and screwed my whole system up!

Well really its best to do a design mockup on how you want it to look, then add all the graphs etc once your happy with overall look.

Not really that hard just spending time on it getting it setup on how you want it.

I would have to have a graphic editor like PS 7 first right?

You screwed up your OS, trying to skin SysMetrix? How? 

I somehow locked up my windows explorer (98) and ended up deleting something that screwed up windows.

No idea how you done that, you really must have seriously screwed something up god knows how, but most skins are txt files renamed to *UIS or *.INI for sysmetrix and so on.

Really dont know how you screwed up OS files with a skin creation or attempt

I assumed sysmetrix only worked on 2k NT xp?

As ive never found a program that reads cpu usage on 9x properly, apart from Norton others usually read 30 to 50% constantly.

OK here is the skin I was working with:


i wanted to change the E:, F: and G: to something else. I know how to change what the gauges meter and the text. I do not know how to change to label (ie F: to say master volome) and I do not know how to change the color.

just thought of something. is there a freeware program I can use to tear this skin apart and recolor it and rename the labels? maybe that is the key to skinning sysmetrix. I don't know where toi start.

Its in textual information, but black letters are part of the graphics.

YOu will need a graphics program to edit that one. It is called Shex Panel. What you would want to do is to modify the main bitmap background. It's easy to colorize using PSP 7. Then, I just copy and pasted similar areas in the information section of the main bitmap to erase the disk drive information. Then if you want to add generic text for volume (vol.) and use the same bitmaps for volume, it can all be done from sysmetrix configuration. The sysmetrix configuration will change everything for you. I colorized it to purple and removed the drive letters. Then, you can add textural information and chang the indicators to read volume level instead of disk drive usage. It is fairly easy. I'm uploading the image as my desktop so you can see it. It is crude but it is only an example. Done in two mintues in PSP 7.

Kona : You could look at my skins nevertheless, as I always include the infos You requested. They are mostly configured for use with several drive configurations. The 'Thredz' one could be something for You.

Kona0197: ever tried the documentation link at the GIMP website? http://www.gimp.org/docs.html heck, there are even two complete e-books for download. to be honest i doubt you have installed the program, you are just looking for some conversation. try Paint, it comes with Windows and should be easy enough for you.

click on my user name and know the truth. I was serious. but it is ok i figured out how to skin sysmetrix last night at 2:00 AM.
