A saved group of two Edge tabs opens no URLs

I had two Edge windows open, separately, with one tab/web page in each.  I grouped them, then saved the group.  I closed the group.  I opened the saved group.  I got two separate Edge windows, that opened to no URL.

Windows 10 Ent (1809)

Edge--latest: Version 90.0.818.49 (Official build) (64-bit)

I just tried again, from the beginning.  This time, it opened three blank "new tab" Edge windows, even though the save group had two tabs, both with URLs.

Hello,

Sorry to hear you are having trouble.

Forget about the exact URLs for a moment.  For Edge to group from saves, it needs to be totally closed, not still running, is that the case?

I constantly have numerous Edge windows open, with multiple tabs each.  (I am a Web developer.)  I cannot close everything else just to use Groupy saved groups.  Please say it isn't so.

It is but I would like to know if that worked, the test.

I am wondering if I can safely run that test.  I currently have the aforementioned numerous Edge windows open, with multiple tabs each.  Are you saying, I should leave those open, change that setting, and retry my test?

No, the test would be to have all browser windows closed (the browser is also not running in the background) and open a saved group.

I won't be able to close Edge entirely today.  It is just too much work to get all my windows and tabs back, which is the reason I was trying Groupy.  Oh, the irony.

As a developer, using the included Windows Sandbox would be helpful for many things:

Wow-thanks, Sean!  I run Windows Server as my primary OS, so I can have VMs, but they are a bit tedious to create, spin up and down, etc.  I was not aware of those more efficient, throwaway VMs.  Cool.

You are quite welcome.  I use them all the time for just those reasons.
