Please could you explain the option

Open new blank document in Word/Excel rather than recent documents

I've tried toggling the setting but I can't see any difference so I'm obviously not looking in the right place.

Thanks.

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. Need to know more on your system.

  1. Windows version, please use Winver.exe for full version numbers.
  2. MS Office version.
  3. What does come up when you press the "+" button (add new tab button) while in Word or Excel?

Thanks

Thank you for your reply. I apologise that I was not clear in my question.

I have just installed Groupy so I have not got far enough to be experiencing issues. Instead, I do not understand the meaning of the setting that I quoted. As there is no user manual, please could you explain what that sentence means, with screenshots of the different behaviours.

Thanks.

That option "Open new Blank document in Word/Excel rather than recent documents". You should be able to try it yourself. With that option tick try to click the "Add new tab" in groupy, refer to screenshot below. The top red arrow is pointing to that "+" add new tab. Try click that and see what you get. It should go directly to a black document. But if you un-tick that option, and press the add new tab button. You will open that recent document opened view. BTW, you will need to have a document opened before pressing that "+" to make it work.

Thank you,

Thank you. Your instructions are clear and I now understand what should be happening.

I have found that Word and Excel do not behave the same for me:

  • Excel works as you describe.
  • In Word I get a new blank document whether the option is ticked or not. (This was where I tested the setting in the first place, which explains my confusion.)

I am running Office 365 on Windows 10 Version 1809.

I shall carry on using Ctrl+N to create a new document in Word or Excel, as I now understand that this setting is not relevant for me. I'll continue evaluating Groupy and will raise a further question if I have any other problems.

Thank you for your help.

Hello,

Sorry to hear you are having issues.

Your running an OLD version of Windows so we have no way to test

on our end . Suggest updating Windows may help to the latest version .
