lost all icons on desktop and all fences disappeared ...

Help - all my fences have disappeared, all desktop icons are gone too ... from my desktop. I see the files in My Computer. When I try and recreate the fences and drag files back to the desktop or into the new fence, I get the message that the files exist there already.

This is not a double click issue, as not only are the fences hidden, all standalone desktop folders, files, and software shortcuts to executables are gone from view.

Any suggestion, please!!!!

Hello,

Sorry to hear you are having issues.

Try restoring a snapshot

Just wanted to drop a line and mention the latest Fences update 3.1.3.3 just deleted all fences and desktop icons for me as well.

A removal and re-install fixed the issue; but, this seems like important stuff to have tested out properly before pushing out an update.

Who has time to troubleshoot where the icons go?

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. But, not clear on your question, do you have similar issue? If you do, did you tried Mike suggestion in reply#1? If yes you did and the icons returned. It most probably just accidentally moved to another Fences Desktop page. You can learn how to navigate it or totally disable it.

Thanks

I have the same issue with version 4. It occurred during installation of another program. Reboot did not help, nor did the troubleshooting things I found in support. I have discovered that if I create a new fence they immediately reappear just as I set them up. I Have not tried to reinstall, hoping that if I have to do that someone can tell me if there is a snapshot or config file I can save so I don't have to rebuild everything from scratch...

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. But, have you tried my suggestion in Reply#4? Also, interested to know what software was you installing when this issue starting to occur?

Thanks

Yes I tried #4 & other troubleshooting tips. I do not remember what I was installing. Is there a file I can copy, reinstal, then replace to bring back original?

Just tried it again with first (not preinstall) and last 2 snapshots. Same issue. No fences or icons appear (background slideshow does) until I create a new fence.

What actually you mean by that? When you create a new fence all the hidden Fences appear? Maybe I misunderstood your issue from the start. Post a video showing your issue might help us understand better.

Yes, the screen boots up blank except for windows background & slide show. If I draw a frame, as soon as I hit create fence here, all of my missing frames & icons appear. I'll post a video when I figure out how...

To post a video, you can upload your video to Youtube and use that Youtube button to paste the youtube link into it.
