Translucent Fence background not working

One evening the "blurring" background of the Fences worked, and the next day it stopped from working, although the option is checked in the settings. Have tried to re-install Fences but still won't work. I really liked the blur, it gave the fences a nice glassy look. Would love to get it back! If anyone has any tips, I'm all ears.

Cheers!

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. Need to know on your issues.

  1. Windows version, please use Winver.exe for full Windows version numbers.
  2. Fences version.
  3. What change recently? Windows update? Driver update? Some application update or upgrade?
  4. Do you have Wallpaper manager software running in the background? Deskscape or Wallpaper engine?

Thanks

Thanks for your quick reply!

My Windows version is 20H2 (OS Build 19042.867) & my Fences version is 3.0.9.11.  I do recall there being an update that evening when this problem occured, but nothing else has changed really. I do not have a wallpaper software running nor do I use one at all.

Hello,
Please try purge and reinstall steps as mentioned here: https://forums.stardock.com/486084/fences-support-faq#reinstalling  Just make sure to re-download the latest version from your account. Reboot after the purged. Reinstall, and Reboot again after the installation. Retest it. Report back here.

Thank you,

Thank you again, I did as you said. I ran the bat file and uninstalled, and when prompted to restart I did, installed Fences again and restarted, but the problem is still there, the blurring won't work.

Yup, still the same. Would also like to add that I am using Start10, and there's the option to blur the background and that works just fine. It's only the Fences background that won't blur anymore, all of a sudden.

Was the clean boot done under a new Windows Admin account?

Are you using Windows to apply the background?  If so, are you using a slideshow?  If you are, and do not use slideshow (just a static image), does it still happen?

Thank you! I was not using a slideshow background, but thanks to you it works now. I went to the Windows settings and fiddled around with the background images provided, and now it works even if I changed back to my own one. Thank you! :)

I changed my wall paper then back again and it resolved my same problem also.  I am running win 11 and noticed this problem 2+ weeks ago.  First time in years I've had a problem with fences.  Cool program.  Thanks!
