NextSTART newbie question...

I downloaded a Mac theme for the NextSTART program. The screenshot from the author shows the top menu and all that nice looking stuff, but when I load the theme it justs changes the color of the little default "monitor" start box. I read an earlier post that said that I might need to update to the newest beta, but that didn't fix the problem. I'm sure I'm just missing a basic option, so if anyone could help that would be great. Thanks.

A theme in NextStart doesn't automatically place items (menus, bars, buttons) on your desktop. A theme in NextStart merely skins these items. YOU have to configure the desktop the way you want, in this case a MAC-like desktop layout. A NextStart theme only encompasses the look, not the configuration, which in my mind is a good thing.

You define new popup menus and how they display (via clicking the desktop, bumping the screen edge, displayed vertically, horizontally...)

You can create new horizontal menu and stick it at the top of the screen for a Mac-like effect. Alternatively, you can stick NextStart's taskbar and / or quicklaunchbar at the top of the screen.

The tutorial is a little out of date. The newest version of NextStart has taken all the skinning options (as opposed to the menu and desktop confgiuration settings) and put them in its own subsections in the configuration. But its still pretty easy to follow along with the tutorial
