Micrsoft Project

Hi team,

I am not able to get Microsoft Project to group in tabs like Excel can. Are you able to let me know how to have this work on Project as when I open the Microsoft Project it doesn't show the tabs of each new file I open. This only presents as a single tab in Groupy, however on the Windows taskbar there is a stacked icon to show there are multiple versions available.

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. Please try this, Open excel and project. Group this two application together. Click on Project Groupy tab. Click on the 3 dot menu while project groupy tabs is active. And Tick the "Always show tabs for this type of Window". Remember Project need to be grouped and active while doing this. Close both excel and Project. Open project only and see if the groupy tab appear.

Hi Baj,

That worked, but I now have two problems

1. Pressing on the plus button doesn't do any anything.

2. When I open a new project (.mpp) file it doesnt automatically appear as a new tab. The only way to have a new file open as a new tab is when it's grouped with Excel.

3. When I can get two instances of MS Project visible, after I press the non-active tab the window disappears and seems to minimize...

Thanks for your reply and help on this...

Regards

Trej

Hello,

Sorry to hear you are having trouble.

I can't find a version of Project that allows it to be installed anymore - only the Online version seems to be available (to us).

What version are you using? Is the online (web) version suitable for your needs?

Hi Sean,

There is a link below which you need to select Project Plan 3 and select Try Now. This will allow you to install the client/desktop application.

For reference I am using the below version of MS Project

You have no idea how impossible MS makes getting the client... I will keep trying but in the meantime, can you post a video of what happens when you try to group Project with something like Notepad?

Ah, my bad. Should have been more specific. Appreciate the effort you went to. What I was hoping to have is two project files open so I can switch between them using the group tabs... But looking further it seems it's Project specific isssue...
