Stopped working after last Windows 10 update

My primary computer no longer shows Multiplicity running in the task bar. I start the program manually by clicking on the app and running in administrator mode but nothing works. Both primary and secondary are connected via Ethernet cable and I have also tried with both Wifi and Ethernet on. Also the opposite. I don't think the program is loading on my primary, it does show active on the secondary. I've been using this program for years and it just stopped working completely after the last Windows 10 update a few weeks ago.

I've downloaded and installed in administrator mode the latest version.

Help!

Hello,

Would you do this PURGE: https://forums.stardock.com/486104/multiplicity-support-faq#reinstalling

Reboot and ReInstall the latest version from your account https://store.stardock.com/myaccount/products/

Reboot test and report please.

Thanks for the reply, I followed the instructions and after providing the secondary passcode I got a message on the primary saying that it successfully connected.

Unfortunately my keyboard and mouse still only work on the primary.

Any other instructions? On the primary it still does not show Multiplicity as running in the taskbar.

I went though the manual, both computers ping each other ok.

I also tried rebooting the router and turning off firewalls.

Still no luck, Any other ideas? Do you guys do remote login?

What stands out the most is that even after the Purge procedure and all the reboots etc, Multiplicity still does not show up in the System Tray where it always has been on the Primary computer. It does show up on the secondary.

Hi, thanks for the reply, I just checked and yes it says it is running and set to automatic. Not sure how to attach a screenshot if you need one.

My primary computer no longer shows Multiplicity running in the task bar.

Taskbar and what is traditionally referred to as the systray are different.  While MP should show in the systray:

You can also get it to show on the taksbar:

If that gets it the way you want, that it shows, the next is working on this:

Unfortunately my keyboard and mouse still only work on the primary.

Does the cursor traverse to the Secondary but you just can't interact with it... or no... you cannot get the cursor to the Secondary at all?

I checked and Multiplicity / Stardock does not appear as an option in order to show it in the system tray.

To answer your question though, the cursor will not move over to the secondary.

Are you installing MP under an admin account or one with lower privileges?

Also, after install under an admin account, is multi2.exe running?

Is your Secondary on the gird in the real-world location of the Secondary:

Yes, I installed under the admin account, also did the install by choosing run as administrator.

Yes both the primary and secondary are on the grid.

When I did the purge and reinstalled on the primary I had to give it the secondary passcode. When I did I got a message saying succesfully connected to the secondary computer.

Yes, both the mulsrv.exe and multipl2.exe show as running.

wait, multipl2.exe showed up when I had the multipliconfig app open under admin. after I closed the configurator multipl2.exe disappeared.

Only Multisrv.exe and MP2Control.exe show up now.

Then I reopened multiplicontrol.exe and now only that and multiplicitycontrol.exe and multisrv.exe show up show up.

So I decided to try Safe Mode and ran the Purge program again. I also reinstalled Multiplicity after that and reboot.

I started Multiplicity in Admin mode after the reboot and when it did a scan of available computers it found my secondary and asked for the passcode which I supplied along with my license code. All good with the Purge, Reinstall and reconfiguration up to this point.

Unfortunately Multisrv.exe and MultiplicityConfig.exe and MP2Control.exe show up as running tasks.

My mouse / cursor will not move over to the secondary computer.

:( I do appreciate all of you trying to help.

Fingers crossed this new information helps.

FYI, I am using the same two computers I have been using for many years with the program working flawlessly in multiple states and Countries with the same router.

Before you say anything about the computers being a few years old, they are both Lenovo with 16GB RAM and Intel i7 processors.

I love your program! Let's figure it out. I am willing to grant you access to the computers remotely if necessary.

Thanks

Is there anything in event log about Multipl2 crashing?

I do not see *anything* in the Event Viewer Logs about Multiplicity at all. Am I looking in the right place?

Yup, I was looking in the correct place, I just looked again and there is only 1 error and it is totally unrelated. I see no trace of anything Multiplicity in the log.

I reviewed all of the warnings and Information entries as well.

Unfortunate?  Do you mean they do and its unfortunate that they do a it still does not work or did you mean to write they DO NOT show?

Do you have anything checked here?

I meant there is nothing in the event log related to Multiplicity.

No I do not have anything checked in the control mouse movements box, should I?

Multisrv and MP2Control do show up as running tasks.

Multipli2.exe does not show running.
