Cursor FX upgrade

I purchased Cursor FX Plus (v 2.16). Is Cursor FX 4 a free upgrade from that, or does it require for me to make a new purchase separately from that? Doesn't seem fair if it's a new separate purchase yet nothing I check or review seems to allow any free update or upgrade for Cursor FX Plus.
