What genre of music do you like?

What genre of music do you like?

Am I the only one who likes Blue Grass???

I love it!! (Even though I don't know any individual musicians)

What I really like is this MusicMatch features that allow me to find new types of music. Never thought I would be listening to classical more than a few times a month. Now I listen to it.. a few times a week

I love music... anything that has soul, from Gregorian Chant to Acid Rock, Opera, Blue Grass, Jazz, you name it. International music from any country. Good music has a quality that differentiates it from souless drivel, it can move you.

I like many genres of music but those that I prefer include:

Ambient/space music typified by Steve Roach, Robert Rich, Michael Stearns, Harold Budd, Brian Eno, Raison d'Etre, Biosphere

Sureal, ethereal, world music typified by David Sylvian, Dead Can Dance/Lisa Gerrard, Loreena McKennitt, Delerium
As for other genres:

For metal: SymphonyX, Blind Guardian, Iced Earth
Industrial Electronic: KMFDM, Pig, Frontline Assembly
Typical stuff: the Cure, U2, Smashing Pumpkins, Roxy Music, Yes...
Shoegazer stuff like: My Bloody Valentine, Slowdive, Curve, Cocteau Twins, ...

The 70's was sooo hot. In the 80's the music got to commercial. I want a time machine. Take me back to a '70's Journey/Van Halen concert. lol.

just a comment to fuel an ongoing flame war:

MTV is fueling the flames of the teenie bopping, wiggah, wannabe, and most importantly the new whining "my girlfriend dumped me so I am going to write a song about it because I am in so much pain" curse that plagues our nation.

Please stay on topic, no personal attacks....yadda yadda yadda........

Also, somebody please give Kona a spell and grammar checker   Jafo's head will explode if he reads this.  (BTW, Kona, it's "Besides" not "Decides" when you say things like: "decides, rap and hip hop are not as bad as country in my book. " or  "Decides why would you even listen to a rap video that ......"

I love New Country, Blue Grass and Celtic music.

Guitar ... don't care if it's rock, country, blues, etc., etc. As long as it's good and moves you.

One of my personal favorites, Warm Regards by Steve Vai. If you ever get the chance, check it out.

I'm currently listening to 'In The Wake Of Poseidon' by King Crimson......if that means zip then your taste is immaterial....to me....

YES

Another Blue Grass lover!!!

Rap does have its bad side now doesn't it? I to listen every now and again but my taste is more to the likings of Common, Mos Def and others... More social and uplifting... maybe some party/club songs too.

Ohhh like Common's 'Come Closer" with M.J. Blige

And if you play Bone Crusher's 'Never Scared' (yeah at times I can get with the harder stuff ) really fast it sounds like Blue Grass neuvo...

Listening to right now:
Harvest Time by Mike Marrshal feat. Chris Thile (Blue Grass). On Music Match Juke Box radio stations...

smoooooth listening....

I don't categorise music in genres, but quality. I listen to anything and everything under the sun.

The artists i like (if not all, atleast some of their songs) are:

The Beatles, Elvis, Pink Floyd, Rolling Stones, Sting (and The Police), Abba, Eminem, Enigma, Gregorian, Paul Oakenfold, Moby, Bryan Adams, Bon Jovi, RATM, Meatloaf, Green Day, Shania Twain, and many many more.

Apart from these artists, there are a whole bunch of talented artists in my home country (India) like Lata and Asha, Kishore, Rafi, Mukesh, Shaan, Udit, Kavita, Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan and a whole lot of composers like the great Pancham, Rehman, Shankar, Ehsan Loy,... (I know that none of these guys are familiar to u all, but I love them). Apart from their private albums we have film music too (thats right, Indian movies still have that song and dance routine).

Anybody who'd like to hear any of them can ask me for a link, I'll provide the same.

I listen to alot of things. I don't like country, classical, and very very heavy stuff. I guess you could add blue grass in there. I like some jazz though. Love rock, rap, pop, and many other forms.

Right now I'm listening to Aerosmith. I love Linkin Park

Hey, what happened to our thread "People will hit me,but..." ?
