What genre of music do you like?

What genre of music do you like?

Am I the only one who likes Blue Grass???

I love it!! (Even though I don't know any individual musicians)

What I really like is this MusicMatch features that allow me to find new types of music. Never thought I would be listening to classical more than a few times a month. Now I listen to it.. a few times a week

Doreen explained her musical taste to me once. According to her there are two types of music:

1. hard base = what the rest of the world call Hiphop
2. soft = everything else

/me gets kicked by Doreen ~ hard

/me prefers black metal, certain types of house (acid, oldskool gabber) and ofcourse, reggae

Hardcore punk, classical music and groove grass.

Nah. I lied. However GrooveGrass 101 is a great blue grass band which has an "unnamed" space bass player from time to time as a guest.

Jazz, Jazz-rock, Fushion, Funk, Rap and P-Funk are my favorites.

However, I have lots of other music too from the Catamara Contemporary Chamber Orchestra to Frank Zappa to Matthijs Vermeulen.

There is even a Matthijs Vermeulen Path in Amsterdam and I like to think it was named after me. A boulevard would be even better of course.

There isn't a particular "genre" that I listen to.  i don't think that
there is any genre of music that I can't find something in that I like.
However, Classical and Country are probably on the low end of what I will listen
to.  It all depend on what mood I am in and what I am doing.  When I
am in "photography mode" I listen to calmer stuff.  When i am doing stained
glass, I like more up beat songs.  Don't really care what it's classified
as as long as it's good.

You obviously have not listened to much hard rock, "ChrystalMeth"
(There is also Christian Hard Rock bands, so how do you categorize them?)
yeah just throw them all into two catagories like me (makes it much easier)

1. The "Hard" stuff

2. The "Soft" stuff

hehe
/me kicks that dutchy! (softly)

/me appreciates all music that is well played.

With the exception of New Rap and hiphop, the stuff from the late 80's and early 90's was for the most part excellent...

I ABSOLUTELY HATE rap. Can not stand any of it with the exception of Tupac. Anybody can take a nusrey ryhme, through a couple slang words and some cuss words in the mix and rap it out to a keyboard made beat.

IT TAKSE TALENT TO PLAY INSTRUMENTS AND SING!

Kona, you say all rappers are talentless? Let's see you freestyle. Let's see a rocker try make a beat that you can bob your head too. It's not that easy. It's not made on a keyboard, go ask The Neptunes if it's made on keyboards. It takes talent to be able to rhyme line after line off the top of your head. It takes talent to write 50-line songs where the entire thing rhymes while making sense. The majority of respected rappers write their own lyrics...and to call them nursery rhymes is just plain ignorant.

You named Tupac as 'ok' in your books? What makes him so different? Is it because he's dead? People tend to respect things more once they are gone, if Biggie and Tupac were stil alive, they wouldn't be nearly as respected as they are now. They would just be Biggie and Pac. Just 2 more world-famous platinum-selling rappers. No different from 50-cent or Eminem or any other top rapper. If you don't like something, you don't have to say it's talentless...I could easily say it's talentless to bang your guitar-pic up and down over and over just making a lot of noise. I don't though. Why? Because everyone has their own tastes, you probably think it's very hard to be a rock star, well ask any rap fan and you obviosly get the other end of the argument. All I'm trying to say is try be less ignorant and more understanding of other people's choices. Just cause you don't like rap, doesn't make it talentless nursery rhymes.

Mainly because he rapped about the real problems facing everyone and didn't call people bit**es every other sentence.

No need to flame me, it was only a opinion.
RAP and COUNTRY have no place in my house or my car... IN MY OPINION they both suck as well as hip hop.

They make funny faces when they sing...
(my step father's daughter sings opera) I listened to her sing to him recently at his B-day party and as long as I did not actually "watch" her sing it to him and just listen then it kinda made me alittle emotional... hehe

(but it just ain't my kinda tunes, not enough hard bass)

Funny when hip hop is a CULTURE. Rap is something you do, hip hop is something you live. Funny how you can hate on something you know little about; at least get your shit straight. I'll bet you only know of that MTV bull****. I'll name plenty of emcees who can eat these fools on MTV up. MTV is only the SURFACE.

And when yall say Techno, you don't mean all electronica music do you? Cause Techno is a kind in its own form. Then there is trance, drum n bass, tribal, ambient, house, etc..

Now that I schooled some of yall, I'm into rap, turntablism (http://www.bbc.co.uk/music/features/vinyl/turntable.shtml ), electronica, r&B, hard rock, heavy metal, easy listening, jazz and symphony and orchestra. Got a very open mind.

MTV IS A WORD AND A TV STATION NOT ALLOWED IN MY HOUSE EITHER! Get you sh** striaght brother! hip hop is not a way of life for me. I do everything possible to stay away from it. Now if MTV would go back to showing videos 24/7 I might watch but only if they cut everything but metal and rock. I am not open minded when it comes to hip hop or rap. All they usually permote is a life of drugs, violence, and sex. My kids do not need that crap. Decides why would you even listen to a rap video that calls girls bitches every other sentece and all the girls are half way naked? where is your morals? >

Again, get off MTV! You contradicted yourself. How would you know whats in the videos otherwise? I never said hip hop is a way of life for YOU. You say "they both suck as well as hip hop", but hip hop is a CULTURE.

Listen, most of whats on MTV is garbage. There are REAL emcees out there. You really don't know what you're talkin about. There are real artists out there preserving the art form. Don't judge the culture on what little you know about. You want to know of some good emcees? Cause you'll stick your foot in your mouth.

OK DJ listen: I just DO NOT LIKE rap or HIP HOP. simple as that. nothing more nothing less. each to his own right? I like headbanging, loud, people calling the police, rage against the machine, anti social, annoying hevey metal music.

And I do not care for the hip hop culture. my kids will nt be raised around it. simple as that. I do agree about MTV.

So drop it already. decides, rap and hip hop are not as bad as country in my book. but I dislike all three.
