Target="C:\Users\user\Documents\Listini\Listino 2020 Q2 - id101\WSC3_Listino_Q2_2020_NC_WC.xlsm"
NoPatternMatching=1
MatchingClass=XLMAIN
[GroupyEntry2]
OwnerProcess=C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Root\Office16\EXCEL.EXE
RunElevated=1
Target="C:\Users\user\Documents\Listini\Listino 2020 Q2 - id101\UPDATE WSC3_NC_New_id=101_2020Q2_2020-03-31.xls"
NoPatternMatching=1
MatchingClass=XLMAIN
[Group]
GroupCount=2
GroupLeft=155
GroupTop=77
GroupRight=1623

If you press WinKey + R and then put "C:\Users\user\Documents\Listini\Listino 2020 Q2 - id101\WSC3_Listino_Q2_2020_NC_WC.xlsm" in the edit box and run it do you get the same error message?

I think I may see the issue.

Have you disabled UAC on your computer?

It is making Groupy think you are running elevated and trying to launch things differently.

If you edit the .Groupy file to make RunElevated=1 into RunElevated=0 does that then work correctly for you?

Hello,

After changing the groupy file the excel files are now opening, but they are not grouped.

What are your UAC settings set to?

Also did you make any other changes to your setup to stop UAC from working say via the registry or a tool which disables UAC for you?

Windows 7 UAC is disabled (lowest level - not notify)

As a test if you set it back to the default and reboot does the grouping then work?

Hello,

Sorry to hear you are having trouble.

Quoting Gianps, reply 12

set UAC back to default and the two excel windows appears, but stay separated.
End of Gianps's quote

Is that consistent, does it happen every time - say, out of 5 consecutive attempts?

If you create two new, near-empty xls files, saved them locally (test1.xls, test2.xls), does the same happen for them?

It has never worked since I bought the software with files even with creation of new groups.

I have created two empty files and grouped them.

[GroupyEntry1]
OwnerProcess=C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\root\Office16\EXCEL.EXE
RunElevated=0
Target="C:\Users\user\Desktop\Cartel2.xlsx"
NoPatternMatching=1
MatchingClass=XLMAIN
[GroupyEntry2]
OwnerProcess=C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\root\Office16\EXCEL.EXE
RunElevated=0
Target="C:\Users\user\Desktop\Cartel1.xlsx"
NoPatternMatching=1
MatchingClass=XLMAIN
[Group]
GroupCount=2
GroupLeft=683
GroupTop=135
GroupRight=1719
GroupBottom=876
GroupMax=0

If i open this, they get grouped.

If it can be of any help, xlsm files had query which ask to be updated at start (perhaps this popup mess up with groupy functionality?)

Hello,
Please look into Excel's add-ons if you have any installed. And try disable Excel's Hardware graphics acceleration  Inside Excel: File > Options > Advance > Display and tick the "Disable hardware graphics acceleration" checkbox.

Have you try disabling all the add ins?

Yes, but nothing changed: excel files open up but stay ungrouped

I removed also the update query at start, but even without the popup showing, windows stay ungrouped.

Then it is something unique to the files in question.

If you can post \ link a file that does not contain sensitive data (or PM me a link), we can look at it but I can't promise that we will be able to scrutinize it as much as you would be able to - to figure out what about it is causing the issue.
