Nothing is working

I have used Multiplicity for a few years on multiple different group of laptops but for some reason this time NOTHING is working. I have restarted, uninstalled, reinstalled, deleted, entered with IP Address, entered with Computer name and they just wont fully connect. It has told me one is on an older version, not true. Tells me I have the wrong passcode, not true but changed it anyway. Our IT people have checked the firewalls, It has even told me it's connected successfully but when I try to open the screen... it wont. I am at the end of being able to figure this one out. Any suggestions?

Sorry to hear you are having trouble.

Before we proceed, I need to know you have been through this in its entirety:

I have checked firewalls, they're good. I also have deleted it and re-added it, I sit here for a bit rebooting and I get different answers then by the 3rd or 4th time it tells me it successfully connected but when I try to connect it wont let me. I have in the past, with other group of laptops, had where it tells me the firewalls is blocking connection but then connects after.. this isn't the case for this.

Karen,

I want to work on a few, not an entire group.  Pick one Primary and no more than two Secondaries to work with.

Run this on each and reinstall:

https://forums.stardock.com/486104/multiplicity-support-faq#reinstalling

Get the latest version from your account page:

https://store.stardock.com/myaccount/products

If you still have issues:

  • It has told me one is on an older version.
    End of quote
    Still the case?
  • Seamless or KVM?
  • If the current Primary is demoted (and deactivated in the process) to a Secondary, and a Secondary is promoted to a Primary (and activated in the process), does that then work?
  • Is a VPN connection activate on any Multiplicity PC?  If so, and shut down, does that then work?
  • Are there multiple subnets bound to the PCs involved?
  • Are all Windows accounts Admin accounts?
  • If you shut down all Firewalls points (AV / Windows and on every network type - public, private, domain), on each PC, does it work?

I followed the steps and sadly, it's still not working. I went ahead and tried switching around laptops and that seemed to work! I'll do the purge on all my other laptops and set it up. Thank you so much, it was driving me crazy!! :)

End of karendwyer's quote

Then it's a firewall issue...
