Audio from secondary computer stutters and is very slow

I originally installed Multiplicity KVM as a trial and it worked flawlessly. However, since I upgraded to the paid version, I've had an annoying bug that is driving me nuts. The audio from the 2nd computer plays through my primary computer as intended, but it's as if each sound is slowed down to 1/32nd speed and it stutters as the sound plays, so what should be a quick chime takes several seconds and plays in a kind of rat-a-tat-tat stutter.  

I've followed the steps in one of the posts around here for troubleshooting audio sharing, but nothing works. What is going on?
