Unable to open the folder directly in Folder Portal, it must pass through the explorer

This happened to my three computers after a win10 upgrade this year.

Before, I could open subfolders directly in Folder Portal, and now explorer will pop up directly, no matter whether I select "Allow navigation ”or not.

Windows Edition: Windows 10 Pro, Vision : 1903 ,OS build : 18362.476.

Fences Version : 3.0.9.11

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. Please try the purge and reinstall steps : https://forums.stardock.com/486084/fences-support-faq#reinstalling

Just to be sure, re-download the latest version from your account. Reboot after the purge. Reinstall it, reboot again. Retest and report back.

Thanks

Hello,

I just tried this method very seriously and it didn't work.

For the experiment, I deliberately upgraded the win10 of a computer. It was normal before the upgrade, and the same problem occurred after the upgrade.

The normal win10 is:

Windows Edition: Windows 10 Pro, Vision : 1803 ,OS build : 17134.950,

bug will appear in a version after that.

Hello,

Sorry to hear you are having trouble.

Our only other recommendation is to ensure you do not have Windows Explorer set to open in a new window:

Adding screenshots for the 3 important steps for folder portal menu "Allow navigation"Hoping to save someone else a few hours of frustration. <3   I purged and reinstalled 3 times (totally unnecessary) before I finally realized I missed a step. I was confused & treated these 2 settings as one, but they are actually 2 separate settings within the folder options: "Open each folder in the same window" & "Launch folder windows in a separate process". All 3 settings in screenshots below need to be verified.

from hamburger menu on folder portal title — select/check "Allow navigation"

 Allow Navigation in Folder Portal

under folder options "General" tab — select/check "Open each folder in the same window" & click Apply

Open each folder in the same window

under folder options "View" tab — unselect/uncheck "Launch folder windows in a separate process" & click Apply

Launch folder windows in a separate process

Quoting BrookeRaraAvis, reply 5

3 under folder options "View" tab — unselect/uncheck "Launch folder windows in a separate process" & click Apply
End of BrookeRaraAvis's quote

That should be the 'default' but thank you for adding to this.

Your post is done so well, I am going to plagiarize it for the FAQ
