Little "Slider" Audio-Related Boxes That Won't Go Away

Sorry if this has been covered, I didn't see anything.

A few days ago a little black box with a purple slider (0 - 100) appeared on both PCs I'm using Multiplicity on. 

The one on my primary PC does not appear to do anything - but I cannot minimalie it, move it, or get rid of it.

The one on my secondary pc enlarges, can't get rid of it, and it mutes my audio (the slider works, but slowly fades to 0 volume).

I don't recall changing any settings.

Can anyone tell me how to get rid of these annoying boxes?

Yes - have rebooted several times

Box on primary pc comes up whether or not Multiplicity is opened or not (it only disappears when I move mouse to secondary pc)
