I wonder if Stardock is a serious company (?)

About Object Desktop Manager (ODM)

Hello everyone,

I bought directly from Stardock Internet site, on last june 18 th an activation key for ODM. After installing it, I then activate it as many times as there are embedded programs in it (boring !

Afterwards I thought I could enjoy the wondeful Stardock software ;not at all :  that's where my troubles began…

I then was assailed with messages telling this ODM version wasn't activated and enjoining me to activate it !

So tired of re-re-re-(…)activate the prog, I tried a "so-called" solution found in the forum ;it succeeded for Fences, after several attempts but not for the othhers - yes, as many times etc. (more & more boring !) - "Error Code-212" they said + they don't recognize my e-mail address anymore (fancy !) hence the title of that post…

I'm fed up with so much wasted time, then I ask three questions to Stardock :

1/  Why must we activate a suite like ODM as many times as the number of prog's in the suite ?

2/  Why didn't they correct the well known issue by which the prog keeps claiming activation after a successful one ?

3/  Do they intend to correct the wrong opinion about the alleged unknown e-mail address ?

Best regards to everyone.

Hello,

Sorry to hear you are having trouble.

Are you using the ODM beta app from your account page?

https://store.stardock.com/myaccount/products

Also, I dont show any activaiton failures in your recent past.  If any app keeps asking you to reactivate, press the Windows key and "R" at the same time. A "Run" dialog box will pop up, please paste the path below into the "Open" field and press OK.

%ProgramData%\Stardock\

In the folder that pops up, you should see a folder named PRODUCTNAME. Please delete this folder and all of its contents.

After you have deleted that folder, please attempt to activate once again and it should succeed without any errors.

Hi Sean,

Thanks for your fast reply.

As I tried to explain in my former post, I did use that solution without success ;even Fences who left me quiet yesterday is yelling for another activation today !

From the beginning, I didn't find any folder named PRODUCTNAME (unless one must understand that PRODUCTNAME is generic, meanning for Fences, when Fences is concerned, and so on…).

I downloaded the beta-version of ODM and installed it, so I'm gonna try to activate each of its components and let you know the result

Quoting Louglitou, reply 2

End of Louglitou's quote

That is what that is to mean, any app that is asking repeatedly for activation, delete its folder and reactivate.

I did so, but that didn't work ;still the same error code-212.

May be a clue :After deleting Fences3 folder and before I key up the activation, sometimes the folder Fences3 reappears in Win explorer (I'm old and sick and keying takes lot of time…) do I have to delete the Fences3 folder once more (I did so) or not, before entering the activation ?

This time, I didn't delete Fences3 when it reappered and I got successful activation (no more error code-212); hope Fences will leave me quiet now (I cross my fingers).
