Can't get Multiplicity to work over different internet connections

So I can get Multiplicity to work fine over computers on the same internet connection, but getting it to work between different ISP's isn't happening for me.

For example I have ISP A and ISP B.

If the host computer is on ISP A, it will connect to all computers also on ISP A, but not on ISP B. The same situation happens if the host is on ISP B. It connects to all computers also on ISP B but not on ISP A. Can anyone help here?

Because MP PC need to be on the same subnet.  The best way to achieve this when PCs are on disparate networks is to get each on a common subnet with a VPN.
