Permanent loss of control on main computer if wifi is lost and restored

I have discovered if I lose internet connection to my second computer for any reason while the control is directed at the second computer I lose total control on my main computer and I cannot get it without a hard reboot of my computer. Is there not anything in the programming to detect and correct this? The two things I did which caused this are:

1. computer 2 had an update and needed to reboot, I hit restart and lost mouse and it did not return to computer 1 even when other computer was off. I had to force hard reboot of computer 1

2. after this reboot, i accidentally clicked airplane mode on computer 2 and had to go to the computer and turn off airplane mode but still did not have control of the mouse and keyboard on computer 1. had to again force hard reboot of computer 1

I do have settings set to not to allow control to change in full screen and must have shift to change also.

windows 10 on both systems.
